Answer for Cancer and Our All-Stars of Cancer Research

Each year, the V Foundation Wine Celebration hosts a Cancer Research Symposium, where world-class researchers present cutting-edge information to the general public.

Led by the V Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Committee, the symposium offers attendees the opportunity to connect with researchers from every cancer specificity, in a Q & A session that allows attendees to have their questions answered by the experts.

This committee is comprised of the nation’s top doctors and scientists. Many of the researchers who have been awarded grants in years past return to share their valuable findings.

Grants Awarded for Cancer Research

The V Foundation awards competitive grants through a process vetted by a Scientific Advisory Committee. This committee is comprised of the nation’s top doctors and scientists in cancer research. The V Foundation has awarded grants to more than 154 institutions in 40 states, as well as in Canada.

The V Scholar Grant is a two-year grant of $100,000 per year. It supports young tenure-track faculty early in their cancer research careers by funding projects that are either laboratory-based fundamental research or translational research. Check out our map of all V Scholar Grants funded by the V Foundation.

The Translational Grant is a three-year grant of $200,000 per year. These grants support “bench to bedside” research, whose endpoint is often planning or initiation of a clinical trial.
The Designated Grant supports basic or translational research at research institutions that may reach beyond our usual grant list. The size and duration of these grants vary widely depending on the initiative, but they have ranged from $50,000 to over $1 million.
Mission grants support projects within the focus of the V Foundation to advance research processes such as clinical trial identification, outreach, and enrollment. The Mission Grant is a smaller grant type (under $100,000 per year).
