#103 ARAUJO ESTATE MAGNUM OF 2007 CABERNET SAUVIGNON
This magnum of Araujo Estate Eisele Vineyard 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is a show stopper! The aromas of this wine exhibit profound notes of fresh loam, dusty cocoa powder and crushed rock. In the mouth, spicy black licorice, dried laurel and delicate violet nuances balance the ripe, juicy, briary black fruit components. On the palate it is seamless, complete from start to finish, showing the luxurious velvety tannins that are the signature of Eisele Vineyard and ending with a long graphite note. An infant today, the wine’s superb persistence and finishing perfume suggest it will rank among the best vintages of this bottling. If there is ever a classification of Napa Valley cabernet vineyards, the Eisele Vineyard would clearly be a grand cru.

#104 TWO AUGUST WEST MAGNUMS OF PINOT NOIR
The 2006 Graham Family Vineyard Pinot Noir’s color is a deceivingly light, clear ruby, but the herb- and spice-scented nose is one of the prettiest and most powerful they’ve ever made in a pinot noir. The palate is lush with bright fruit flavors and the finish is balanced by perfect acidity. The 2006 Rosella’s Vineyard Pinot Noir starts with the intriguingly spicy and fruit-driven nose which immediately tells you the wine is from the Santa Lucia Highlands. The natural acidity on the palate brings the wonderful rhubarb and cola flavors into focus in time for the long, slightly toasty finish.

#148 NEYERS VINEYARDS 2010 CHARDONNAY EL NOVILLERO & 2009 CABERNET MAGNUM DUO
94 points – A few months ago, Robert Parker wrote of the 2010 El Novillero: ”Neyers’ 2010 Chardonnay El Novillero reminds me of some of the glory days of Louis Latour’s Corton-Charlemagne. Smoky bacon fat, poached pear, honeysuckle, peach and earth all combine in a full-bodied, minerally yet authoritatively flavored Chardonnay that is part California and seemingly part French. This beauty, from a cool-climate vineyard, is just that loaded.”
92 points – Jim Laube, Wine Spectator Online 2012. “The 2009 Cabernet demonstrates the richness, subtlety and finesse achieveable in 2009, with tiers of dried berry, loamy earth, cedar, tobacco and dried herb flavors, ending with rich, dry tannins. Best from 2013 through 2023.”

90-92 points, Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, December 2010. “The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa has put on weight since last year. It now reveals a thick, opaque purple color in addition to bigger, denser fruit concentration, and a plush, heady personality filled with notes of chocolate, coffee, espresso roast and black currants.”
92 points, Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, December 2010. “A stunning, high-end Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is the 2007 Ramey Cabernet Sauvignon Napa. #156 ROBERT FOLEY VINEYARDS 2006 CLARET MAGNUM
The 2006 is a blend of vineyard blocks rather than varieties and is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Vineyards in the north valley impart the lushness of the mid-palate, while vineyards on Mt. Veeder, Atlas Peak and Howell Mountain provide their firm structure. The synergistic combination of these strengths of character results in a powerfully expressive wonder-wine. A delicious middle, thorough ripeness, and perfect tannin framework put this one right up with one of the best reds they’ve ever produced.

Robert Sinskey Vineyard’s Farm-to-Table experience begins with glass in hand and a nibble from the vineyard kitchen followed by a stroll through the kitchen garden. #164 RIEDEL MEDOC MAGNUM DECANTER
Tradition and innovation. The Riedel company can proudly look back on its 250-year success story. From its beginnings in northern Bohemia down to this day, for 11 generations (for now) Riedel Glass has stood for the high-art of glassmaking. “I prefer to decant wines, both young and old. It is a sign of respect for old wines and a sign of confidence in young wines. Decanting old wines, just a few moments before they are served, helps to ensure that the wines’ clarity and brilliance are not obscured by any deposit that may have developed over time. Decanting young wines several hours before they are served gives the wine a chance to bloom and attain a stage of development that normally requires years of aging.”

92 Points, Wine Enthusiast. Sterling Vineyards Magnum of 2006 Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet is a quintessential expression of the vintage. Their Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon brings together the finest lots from 2006 into a decadent, sophisticated wine. It opens with redolent aromas of ripe plum, cassis and dates joined by undertones of cocoa, butterscotch and toasted oak. On the palate, bright fruit leads the entry, which develops silky, mouth coating flavors of briary forest fruit, clove and date as it glides across the tongue. Toasted oak rides the lengthy finish and is met by fleshy, round tannins. Perched 300 feet above the town of Calistoga, Sterling Vineyards offers panoramic views of Napa Valley. An aerial tram carries visitors up the hill to the winery, whose architecture was modeled after that of the Greek island of Mykonos, where Sterling founder Peter Newton once lived. The brilliant white stucco stands out dramatically against the rugged Mayacamas and Vaca mountain ranges that flank each side of Napa Valley. Mount Saint Helena makes a lovely distant backdrop. The winery’s towers house eight bells from London’s Church of St. Dunstans-in-the-East, originally founded in the 10th century. The rich tolling of these ancient bells sounds down through the valley on the quarter hour. Walkways, balconies, and motion-sensitive DVD screens allow guests to take a self-guided tour of Sterling Vineyards’ winemaking facilities.
