Donna Schaffer's Artist Biography

Art endeavors wove through my 23 years of advertising agency and photojournalism experience and resulted in the development of my personal dimension of oil painting, especially in the painting of the incredible vineyards of the Northern California wine country. How could I not be a painter? This is truly an amazing area with the vineyards, the forests, the lakes and not far from the ocean. Each sunrise and sunset takes your breath away.

By the early 90s both my husband and I had lost our fathers to lung cancer.  It made me realize the sooner we embrace our passions the happier we'll all be. So since the mid-90s I've had the luxury of being able to pursue my oil painting passion fulltime.

Authors are encouraged to write about "what they know", I believe fine artists should be encouraged to do the same,"paint what you know". For 20+ years I've lived amongst the vineyards. I know them every time of the day and through the seasons. I'm thrilled to share my vision of this special environment with everyone.
